What is a miscarriage?

A miscarriage is the spontaneous loss of a pregnancy before the twentieth week.
About 10 to 20 percent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage.
But the true number is likely higher because many miscarriages occur early in the pregnancy without the woman even realizing that she is pregnant.

What Causes Miscarriage?

The main cause of a miscarriage is often not recognized, although there are many causes for it.
It can be said that a miscarriage during the first trimester is mostly due to problems with the fetus itself.
However, if it occurs after the first three months; Because this may be related to the mother’s suffering from a specific health problem, and the causes of abortion will be explained in some detail as follows:

1-Old age :

The risk of miscarriage increases by 40% with age, especially for mothers who are over 40, and their ovaries become more vulnerable to damage.

2-Eating raw food for a pregnant woman :

Many of the foods that you are used to eating that are not completely fresh are a major risk to your pregnancy.
Like sushi, noodles, bacon, and more.
These undercooked foods can be a trigger for a miscarriage because they contain harmful salmonella bacteria, so avoid them completely during your pregnancy.

3-Smoking :

Women who smoke are twice as likely to have a miscarriage.
The reason is that the nicotine and toxic chemicals in cigarettes can damage the placenta and cause bleeding.
Therefore, you must completely quit smoking during pregnancy, including e-cigarettes, in addition to avoiding secondhand smoke as well.

4-Caffeine and drinks :

Despite the health benefits of warm drinks like coffee and tea, drinking excessively increases the risk of miscarriage because it restricts blood flow to the placenta.
Therefore, avoiding this problem comes by drinking these drinks with one cup, and alcohol is one of the causes of abortion.5-

5-Invasive prenatal tests including genetic :

Such as an examination of chorionic villus sampling and amniocentesis, as they may have a slight risk of miscarriage.

6-Lack of oxygen delivery to the fetus :

Because the pregnant mother has high blood pressure or has several diseases, or due to infection of the umbilical cord around the fetus, or because of a defect in the blood vessels in the umbilical cord or placenta.

7-Absence of one of the chromosomes :

Known as monosomy, in which the embryo loses one chromosome.
That is, he has 45 chromosomes at the end instead of 46, and this often leads to a miscarriage.
Except in rare cases in which the pregnancy continues, and in the event that the pregnancy is complete, the fetus is born with a specific congenital anomaly, or its life outside the womb may last for a short time.

8-Blighted ovum :

Which is a common type of miscarriage and appears early in pregnancy; That is, between the fifth and sixth weeks.
It is not enough time to achieve the vision of the fetus through ultrasound.
It usually causes a miscarriage before the woman realizes she is pregnant.
The damaged ovary is formed as a result of high levels of fetal chromosomal abnormalities.

9-Abdominal massage :

Many women massage their stomachs as a form of caress for their fetuses and play with them, which may harm the uterine wall and put pressure on the fetus.
In addition to the use of some oils and creams to prevent cracks and stretch marks that are not safe during pregnancy, and this does not mean not to use them:
But it is necessary to consult your doctor first about the types that do not contain chemical components harmful to your fetus.
